    FROM THE ARTICLE: Epidemiologic studies show that hypertension (HTN), which can lead to arteriosclerosis, cerebrovascular disease, coronary disease, and end-stage renal disease, places a disproportionate burden of mortality and morbidity on African Americans, with African American women in particular having the highest incidence.
