Nephrologists are internists and use medicines to treat patients, whereas urologists are surgeons that have specialized in the kidney, bladder and prostate.

Healthy eating is essential to promoting optimal health and preventing progression of diseases.  St. Clair Specialty Physicians is proud to offer nutritional counseling and education to patients at all of our locations.  Our registered dietitian works collaboratively with the patient and their doctor to assess the nutritional status and provide meaningful education.

The nutritional services offered by St. Clair Specialty Physicians include:

  • Working with patients and physicians to determine dietary needs
  • Formulating diets and realistic goals to improve health status
  • Educating the patient and their caregivers on specific dietary treatment plans
  • Evaluating the patient's ability to adhere to a prescribed diet

Nutritional services are covered by Medicare for patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) or diabetes. Note that a physician referral must be obtained prior to your scheduled visit.
